A few months ago I interviewed Philipp Marxen on the podcast about his Anki challenge for learning Mandarin.
Shortly after that Philipp signed up to my coaching programme to improve his Mandarin speaking.
And since graduating from the programme, he’s moved to Taiwan where he’s been busy setting up Asia’s hottest language conference: Asiaglot.
In this episode, I catch up with Philipp about his experiences learning Chinese as well as more info about his conference.
Join me in Taipei

Next month I’ll be travelling to Taipei to take part in Asiaglot, a language learning conference that promises to be the biggest, funnest and best event of its kind in the whole of Asia.
The event will take place across two days on the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of March at Taipei Main Station’s conference hall.
There’ll be a mixture of talks from leading language learning experts, interactive workshops and tables where you can meet and practice with other likeminded learners across a range of languages.
I’ll be speaking as well as running a workshop on Controlled Output Training techniques that I teach my students to nail spoken Mandarin.
Other speakers at the event include world leading linguistics Professor, Karen Chung of National Taiwan University (who I’ll be interviewing on stage in a live Q&A), and YouTube sensation Matt Vs Japan.
